In honor of the past forty years of Shanghai’s reforming and opening-up progress, 2018 Shanghai International Photography Festival, titled “PhotographsEncounter Eras- Shanghai’s Forty Years of Reforming and Opening-up”, now invite and collect photography works relevant to Shanghai City which may be produced in the period from 1978 to 2018.

The Festival focuses on humanistic sensibility, development of city and generation memories of Shanghai City in the past 40 years’ reforming and opening-up progress. Inflecting the changes of generation, telling stories of Shanghai and saluting to the past forty years, your work can be contributed, no matter what is the theme, human or things.

When photography encounters the era of reforming and opening-up, witnesses of times left, evoking our memories and emotions of struggle courses and life experience. Type I: Top Ten Moments in Shanghai

 

Contribution Invited Type:

Now, we are openly soliciting and seeking from photographers and shutterbugs home and abroad for your top ten moments happened in Shanghai in the past forty years, including:

 

1.      The Warmest Family Affection

2.      The Most Unforgettable Friendship

3.      The Most Romantic Amour

4.      The Most Diligent Labor

5.      The Most Innocent Childhood

6.      The Most Booming Youth

7.      The Most Easeful Old Age

8.      The Most Kind Shanghai Delicacy

9.      The Most Historic Building

10. The Most Memorable Shanghai Lanes

Contribution Invited Rules:

1. This exhibition is soliciting and collecting works from all photographers and shutterbugs home and abroad in public;

2. Please log in www.shphoto.com.cn/exhibition and contribute your work in the special section of “Photographs Encounter Eras - Shanghai’s Forty Years of Reforming and Opening-up”. Your work must be tilted in Chinese or in English.

3. We are collecting static photography works, including news-related, thematic, reportorial, creative, presentational and experimental works, without any limitation on literary techniques. However, images altered from 3D creation and digital drawings will not be accepted. The long side of your photo shall be not smaller than 3000 pixels (JPEG, not smaller than 8 if compressed and saved in Photoshop, not smaller than 300DPI if scanned from physical photos). Single or serial photographs (4-12) are all to be accepted. No limitation on colors.

4. All works must be attached with narrative statement within 300 words, explaining key points, such as time, place and event, to keep to the subject of exhibition.

 

Selection Rules:

All contributions will be displayed on website after reviewed and approved officially for public vote. The top 500 works will be selected by experts and Wechat official account voting. Finally the “Best Popularity Award” will be finalized and displayed in this exhibition.


Type II 14th Shanghai International Photographic Art Exhibition

 

Contribution InvitedType:

This exhibition now invite works showing and recording change of life and development of Shanghai City happened in the past forty years, includingtouching and memorable humanities, emotions, events and sceneries.Seeing big changes and more and more prosperous life of people in past forty years through small subjects, you can select your themes from different points and levels, such like old tickets, Shanghai lanes, family photos, old matrimonial home, old kitchen, time-honored brand, telecommunication facilities, etc. The comparison between news and olds is tobe presented by documentary, creative or idealistic ways.

 

The contributed works include but not limited to the followings:

1.      Daily life: ceremonies and festivals, daily diet, furnishing and decoration, neighborly relations, clothing and fashion, art and culture;

2.      Urban landscape: buildings, environments, roads, bridges, commercial facilities, streetscapes, etc.;

3.      Important events: important events occurred during the past forty years of Shanghai’s reforming and opening-up;

4.      Famous characters: who has contributed to construction of Shanghai City;

5.      Family photos: historic families’ photos;

6.      Time-honored brand: centuried and lasting famous business name, brand or culture;

7.      Change of technology: household electric appliance, vehicles, communication equipment and other things closely related to development and change of technology;

8.      Manufacturing industry: hard struggling course of cottoncracy, steel, chemical, shipbuilding, aviation, spaceflight and other industries;

9.      Others.

Contribution Invited Rules:

1. This exhibition is soliciting and collecting works from all photographers and shutterbugs home and abroad in public.

2. Please log in www.shphoto.com.cn/exhibition and submit your works in the special section of “14th Shanghai International Photography Art Exhibition”. Your work must be tilted in Chinese or in English. All works must be attached with narrative statement within 300 words, explaining key points, such as time, place and event, to keep to the point of exhibition. Name and contact of the author should not be added in the statement.

3. We are collecting photography works (in group) or multimedia works. At most, every contributor can submit ten works separately for photography and multimedia works (2-12 photos in one group count one). The theme must be kept to the subject. No limitation on style, filming equipment, colors (chromatic and monochrome).

 

Description of Contributed Works

1)     Photographs: refer to static photography works, including news-related, thematic, reportorial, creative, presentational and experimental works, without any limitation on literary techniques. However, images altered from 3D creation and digital drawings will not be accepted. The long side of your photo shall be not smaller than 3000 pixels (JPEG, not smaller than 8 if compressed and saved in Photoshop, not smaller than 300DPI). If your work is scanned or copied from old photos, you should provide the original copy to organizing commission as requirement.

2)     Multimedia works: refer to combination of static and dynamic images, accompanied by audio, special effect or other audio-visual art mediums, which should focus on innovativeness, artistry, and sociality, and explore new form of expression. The mins of your work shall be no longer than 10 minutes, Windows system compatible, 720P and MPEG4 (H.264 coding).

 

Selection Rules:

Members of 2018 Shanghai International Photograph Festival Art Council will be invited to be the selection commission to choose out the top 300 works.

 


 

Type III: Shanghai International Invitational Exhibition

Contribution Invited Type:

The photographs have narrative, thematic and distinct creative characters,which shall be taken in the past forty years’ reforming and opening-up period (1978-2018) related to Shanghai and relevant to subject. 

1.      Shanghai in the Eyes of Overseas Photographers

2.      Shanghai in the Eyes of Domestic Photographers

3.      Shanghai in the Eyes of Shanghai Photographers

 

Deadline: July 15th, 2018

 

Contribution Invited Rules:

1.      This exhibition is soliciting and collecting works from photographers, curators, collectors, worldwide photography organizations, picture agencies, news agencies, art institutions and art fundshome and abroad;

2.      Please log in www.shphoto.com.cn/exhibition and submit your works in the special section of “Shanghai International Invitational Exhibition”. Your work must be titled in Chinese or in English;

3.      All contributed works will be display in groups (10-30 pieces; may be added properly for institutionaltheme exhibition). Every group will have a distinct theme and uniform style.

Special Instructions:

1.        This exhibition adopts online registration and contribution. Your work shall not be repeatedly contributed for Type I,II and III.

2.        This exhibition will not accept any works ever awarded or elected by any international exhibitions hold by Shanghai Photographers Society, including but limited to any altered re-contributed works by changing title or color.

3.        Your works will not be paid if used or selected in the exhibition and will not be sent back.

4.        The organizingcommission will not be responsible for any damage or lose of online contribution data or caused by any other accidents.

5.        The author keeps the copyright of the work. However, the organizing commission has the right to copy whole or partial of the work permanently for exhibition, or to publish it in press for propaganda of this exhibition, including display online. The author has no right to charge any payment.

6.        All contributors must guarantee to hold independent, complete and clear copyright of the work without any dispute. The contributor must be responsible for the copyright and portraiture right concerned in his/her works. The contributor should also guarantee that his/her work has no violation to copyright, portraiture right, right reputation and privacy right of the third person. If any dispute or matter of law occurs, the contributor must undertake the due obligations.

7.        The result of this selection will be publicized on the website of Shanghai Photographers Society for five days. Special complaint mailbox will be established to accept any real-name reporting. After investigation, any inconformity will be repealed immediately.

8.        Any works or behaviors impede public order and good custom (including but not limited to misleading the perception of public and misrepresentations situations violating laws, moralities, public orders or good customs) will be repealed immediately once found. The organizing commission will give out the penalty if recusal, two years’ ban or life-time ban according to actual violation circumstances.

9.        The registration information online must be real. After reviewed by judges and the organizingcommission, any inconformity will be recused.

10.    The contributor must obey relative obligations set forth by the exhibition commission. The organizingcommission possesses the right to revise and interpret this contribution invited.
